Aiming to radically shift the balance in the premium electric SUV segment, this new beast perfectly blends performance, luxury, and efficiency.
What Does the Electric Porsche Cayenne S Offer?
As you may know, Porsche initially announced two different versions for the electric Cayenne series: an entry-level and a top-tier trim. However, the significant performance gap and price difference between these two models led users to expect a balanced “middle-ground” model.
The new Cayenne S steps onto the stage at exactly this point, serving as the perfect fit for users seeking performance beyond the standard model without jumping to the staggering price tag of the Turbo version. Positioned with a starting price of $126,000 for international markets, the vehicle represents the “golden ratio” of the series in terms of both financial accessibility and dynamics.
Incredible Power: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 Seconds
So, what does the new Porsche Cayenne S offer under its hood—or rather, under its massive battery? Equipped with dual electric motors, this impressive vehicle produces a very ambitious 536 hp (400 kW) in standard driving mode.
However, the true Porsche spirit emerges when the “Launch Control” system is activated. In this mode, the Cayenne S climbs up to 657 hp instantaneously, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. For such a large, bulky, and heavy SUV, this acceleration value is incredible, rivaling dedicated sports cars.
Bridging the Gap in the Product Lineup
Remembering the other members of the family helps us better understand the Cayenne S’s vital position. The flagship of the series, the $163,000 Cayenne Turbo Electric, can increase its standard 844 hp by an additional 173 hp (130 kW) for 10 seconds via the “Push-to-Pass” button. With Launch Control, the Turbo model produces a massive 1,139 hp and 1,500 Nm of torque, hitting 0-100 km/h in an unbelievable 2.4 seconds.
On the other end, the $109,000 standard Cayenne Electric offers 402 hp (435 hp with Launch Control) and 834 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds. The new Cayenne S builds a perfect bridge exactly between these two extremes.
Next-Gen Battery and Ultra-Fast Charging
Of course, for a modern electric car, the battery infrastructure and charging technology are as critical as performance. The entire new Cayenne Electric family features a massive 113 kWh battery pack focused on long range. Built on an 800V architecture, this state-of-the-art system maximizes efficiency by providing an incredible 600 kW of energy recovery (recuperation) during braking.
According to Porsche’s official data, the vehicles offer a very satisfying range of approximately 640 kilometers on a single charge. More importantly, thanks to next-generation battery technology supporting up to 400 kW ultra-fast charging, the battery can reach from 10% to 80% charge in just 16 minutes under the right conditions. This means you can get back on the road in the time it takes for a coffee break.
With the new electric Cayenne S, Porsche successfully fills one of the most critical gaps in its product range. Managing to melt premium comfort suitable for city use and the wild performance required for adrenaline-filled drives into a single pot, the Cayenne S sends a serious warning to its competitors.
